Hi Folks, I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I have just spent two years and a lot of money boring and stroking the 4.0 engine to 4.6 with fancy cam blah blah blah. Wish I could turn the clock back to where I hit the 'pay now' button on all that.
Now I'm planning to rip it all out again and make this old beast an EV.
What sort of set up battery and motor are you going for?
Not sure yet. I'm leaning towards a Yasa P400 as it would seem to be an ideal fit into the space where the gearbox is and its spec would work well with the drive train gearing, or a pair of Hyper-9s. Batteries, again not sure, The Yasa P400 is a 750v unit.I have plenty of room, almost the entire engine bay and the space where the fuel tank is. Tesla units looking favourite at the moment, but it'll be a couple of years before I need to make any decisions, by which time I'll understand it all better and there will be probably more motors and batteries coming on the market by then too!
