So I have a midnight blue 993 Porsche (last of the air cooled...ahhhhhh) and am stuck....wondering whether to start a project converting it to an EV OR do I get myself a cheaper one like a 986 (Boxster) and work on that instead....I am leaning towards keeping the 993 as stock as it's just such a beautiful car but I need a project as COVID is killing me....🤣
Other thoughts are something like a Lotus Elise - although the framework might be a bitch to work with.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated
That’s a tough but exciting dilemma! Honestly, I’d lean toward keeping the 993 stock—it’s a classic and will only become more valuable over time. Using something like a 986 as your project car could be a great compromise since you’d get your hands-on build experience without altering a collector’s piece. The Lotus Elise sounds fun too, though definitely more challenging.
If you’re open to other options, exploring japan second hand vehicles might also give you some affordable, reliable platforms to experiment with. Nobuko Japan is a solid place to check for imports if you ever want to explore that route.
